The project is related to a void on the urban grid of Amsterdam: the Torensluis square. The void has its origin in the ancient tower outpost of the old city. The project  has been thought  as a rigid element, in memory of  ancient alignments of district, guiding the fluxes on and off the city. It proposes to make public a space that historically was private; and also to attribute to the new  dwellings a quality of brightness difficult to find in the gotic grid. The building as a city gate opens three major spaces linked, the first with the Torensluis, the second with the flow coming from the Dam square, the third, belonging to the building, interconnects them.
