The need to build a shelter for boats and fishermen in the Archipelago of Berlengas is the excuse to implement a transformation on the reality of the island. The island is, by definition, an ideal place, separated and distant – the perfect setting for the representation takes place. It stimulates the human capacity to see the living space in a new way, making it more understandable. Because of its geological history and of those who landed on its shores, the Carreiro dos Cacções embodies the principles of the proposal: to accompany the access by defining geometrically the threshold, because the fishermen who cross the limit, recognize the character of shelter and protection.
